There is a lot of work being done in independent schools to harness the advantages – and address the challenges – of Artificial Intelligence for students.

Upskilling parents in these issues, so they can play their part at home to support their young people with AI, is a crucial piece of the puzzle.

The four peak parenting bodies in Queensland hosted a free one-hour webinar for parents on Monday 9 October at 7pm to address this need from parents.

Queensland Independent Schools Parents Network Executive Officer Amanda Watt said the four parenting bodies – QIS Parents Network, Catholic School Parents Queensland, P&Cs Qld and Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association Qld – were passionate about parents being seen as partners in a child’s education.

“When parents and schools work together and respect each other’s unique roles in a child’s education, children are the winners,” Ms Watt said.

The webinar’s guest speaker is Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority’s Executive Director Jo Butterworth, who will discuss how parents can talk to their children about using AI safely and ethically in school and at home.
